On this residential project, we completely stripped away a legacy wooden backboard layout and installed an up-to-date, multi-board system featuring built-in RCD safety protection.

Checking Out the Old Rewirable Fuse Setup

The original setup was mounted high up on a hallway wall over a doorway. It featured massive, old style black cut out fuses, a single digital electric meter, and a cluttered web of exposed, unlabelled wires leading into basic switch blocks.

Stripping Down the Old Boxes Safely

Our electricians safely isolated the main incoming power feed, set up our mobile work platforms and yellow stepladders in the narrow hallway, and began disconnecting the old wires. We unbolted the outdated boxes one by one, exposing the main cable entry points hidden inside the wall cavity.

Mounting and Wiring the Modern Safety Boards

Instead of a single crammed box, we splitting the property's power circuits across multiple dedicated, sleek white consumer units. This makes it much easier to manage individual sections of the house like separating the ground floor from the upper levels.

Labelling, Testing, and Commissioning

Once all the wires were locked down, we used specialized handheld testers to run full insulation and trip time diagnostics. This guarantees that if a fault ever occurs, the new RCD switches will cut the power in a fraction of a second. Finally, we clearly hand labelled each box cover so the homeowner knows exactly which board handles the "Ground Floor" and "Upper Floor."
