Industrial Extractor Fan Motor Installation & Wiring

On this job, our team took care of mounting, aligning, and wiring up a powerful new electric motor for a large industrial extractor unit.

Setting Up the New Motor & Pulley Alignment

For an extractor fan to work without shaking or making loud noises, the motor has to sit perfectly inline with the fan system. We bolted the heavy new grey motor onto its structural green mounting plate and used an Allen key to lock the drive pulley firmly into place.

Mounting the Fan to the Ventilation Stack

Next, the motor had to be securely fixed right next to the massive metal extraction pipe. We clamped the motor down on its heavy duty bracket, making sure it was at the perfect height for the drive belt to link up with the main exhaust fan inside.

Connecting the Mechanical Drive Belt

Once the motor was securely in place, we looped the heavy industrial drive belt over the pulleys. Getting the tension just right is key too loose and it slips, too tight and it ruins the motor bearings.

Final Wiring & Power Testing

With the mechanical parts sorted, we ran the main power cables into the motor's terminal box through a protective weather sealed conduit. We connected the wires, checked the rotation direction to make sure it sucks air out instead of blowing it in, and handed the completed system back to the happy client.
